Protagonist: Nikias, Spemminis, Demetrios (Go to TM People)
Description: Archive of eleven fragmentary Greek official letters (corresponding to 6 TM numbers) from mummy cartonnage discovered by Schiaparelli in 1907 in the Rifeh-Assiut area. Four letters are addressed to Nikias c. 190, four to Spemminis c. 188 and one to Demetrios in 187 BC; the addressees of the remaining documents are lost. The letters refer to military operations in the Thebaid during the last phase of the Great Theban revolt, when the larger part of the Nile valley was again under the control of the king (191-186 BC).
