| Highlights: | P.Hels. 1 2 is a petition to the chief of police by a tax official, who was attacked by a Greek soldier in the bath-house of a Fayum village, just when he wanted to pour water over his head with a gourd which he used as watering-can. He was beaten up with fists and trampled down, then dragged out of the bathhouse to gate of the Samothracian gods and delivered to the police. He writes the petition from his sick-bed. |
| History: | The papyri (mostly 2nd cent. BC) come from cartonnage and were purchased through the dealer Fackelmann in 1985. They probably belong to a large find of cartonnage dating from the early 1980’s and purchased by Duke, Köln. Heidelberg, Helsinki, Michigan and others. Some are from the meris of Polemon in the Arsinoite nome, others are from the Herakleopolite nome |
