Former collection. Erik von Scherling was a Dutch antiquities dealer of Swedish descent. His collection, which he presented in a private journal /sales catalogue "Rotulus", was sold in the period 1933 - 1954. Some papyri came in the hands of private collectors (E.P. Wegener and her successor E. Boswinkel), others went to institutions, e.g. British Library, University of Minneapolis (Minnesota), Indiana University (Bloomington), University of Colorado-Boulder, Yale University, Duke University, Belastingmuseum Rotterdam, the National Museum of Antiquities and the Papyrological Institute in Leiden. For a general survey of the collection, see now M. Bakker, A. Bakkers and K. Worp, BASP 44 (2007), p. 41-73. |
