| History: |
Polish soldiers of the 2nd Polish corps, directed by general W. Anders, stationed in the Near East during the second world war, collected a "military museum" of 3000 objects. In 1948 these were given to the archaeological museum of Krakow by J. Sagan, the "conservator" of this military museum; cf. M. Mossakowska, Tell-Edfou soixante ans après. Fouilles Franco-polonaises IV, Cairo 1999, p. 50. 76 ostraca, Greek, Demotic, Coptic and Arabic, most or all of them coming from Edfou. The Byzantine ones belong to the archive of Martyrios. |
