Provenance: Panopolis (Akhmim) - Egypt (9th Upper Egyptian nomeThe Egyptian nome ca. 3rd cent. BC - AegyptusThe Roman provincia ca. 2nd cent. AD) [found & written]

Language/script: Greek

Material: papyrus

Content (beta!): Receipt

Recto/Verso: Ro

Reuse note: All papyri published in CPR 17.2 are fragments from two different rolls. Both rolls consist of a long list of original contracts (written by one and the same scribe for each roll, but signed by the contractants in their own hand). One roll dates from the reign of Commodus, the other from the reign of Macrinus. The rolls were pasted together at later time and cut to pieces to form a codex. This codex was never used. See introduction to CPR 17.2. For the database, every fragment of the rolls is a single document, no matter how much contracts it contains. Indeed, there is an intended relation between all contracts, who were filed in one and the same office (see introduction to CPR 17.2, p. 3) by one and the same person.
