History

There are in fact two collections 1) P. Montserrat (P. Monts.) A survey of the original collection of the monastery of Montserrat mostly small fragments, is given by A. Mundo in Studia Papirologica 2 (1963), pp.35-42 and by M. Manfredi in the Proceedings of the XVIIIth Intern. Congress of Papyrology, Athens 1988, pp.61-66. Most of the about 200 texts are Greek, 15 are Coptic, one demotic and one Arabic. They were bought in 1928 by P. Bonaventura Ubach (1879-1960). See now R.M. Hernandez, El fondo papirologico del Patre Ubach de la Biblioteca de Monteserrat, in : Palabras bien dichas. Estudios filologicos dedicados al P. Pius-Ramon Tragan, Montserrat 2011, p. 49-56.

2) P.Montserrat Roca (P. Monts. Roca) Formerly the private collection of R. Roca Puig, formerly called Papyri Barcinonenses, and belonging to the Fundación San Lucas Evangelista. See now : Ma. Teresa Ortega Monasterio, El Instituto Paprilogico Roca-Puig y el CSIC : ?Proyecto o realidad?, in : Palabras bien dichas. Estudios filologicos dedicados al P. Pius-Ramon Tragan, Montserrat 2011, p. 57-76.

The collection of ancient manuscripts is managed by the Library (P. Monts. Bibl.).
