If you are looking for specific place attestations, you need our database of Place attestations (GEOREF), available here. To access this, you can use the Trismegistos Georef_ID's, stable id's which are randomly assigned to individual place attestations: see the grey menubar to the left under 'Quicksearch'. If you do not know the Georef_ID, you will need to use the search form below.

Sets of place attestations answering to criteria

If you are looking for a set of place attestations answering to specific criteria, e.g. all attestations of Demotic toponyms including 's.t' or all attestations of Greek toponyms in the Arsinoites that are called kome, you can use the search form below.

» Fill in one or more of the following search criteria
Attested Name (nomin., 'clean'):	adjectival forms only
	Searching for the place name as it occurs in the sources, but in the nominative case, without brackets or uncertainty dots. Unicode characters (especially for Greek, Egyptian and Coptic). E.g. Βρεταννία, Philadelphia, Πύρρεια. Accents and diacritics are not taken into account. The results are shown in the declined form and with brackets and uncertainty dots.
Attested Name (decl., brackets):
	Searching for the name as it occurs in the sources, declined and taking brackets into account but not diacritical signs. Unicode characters for Greek, Egyptian and Coptic. E.g. Βρεταννίαν, [Phil]adelphiam, Πυρρεία[ς].
Standard transliteration:
	Searching for attestations of a toponym through its standard name, e.g. Philadelpheia. With assisting popup window.
GEO-ID:
	Searching for attestations of a specific toponym using the Geo_ID number. Use the GEO-search to find the exact number.
Language/script:
	Searching for attestations in a particular language or script. The following languages currently occur: Greek, Latin, Demotic, Coptic, Hieroglyphic, Hieratic, Abnormal Hieratic, Arabic, Aramaic, Hebrew, Armenian, Minaean, Nabataean, Pehlevi, Persian, Phoenician, Syriac.
Century:
	Searching for attestations in a particular century, e.g. 'BC01', 'AD03', or 'AD03 AD04 AD05' (with a single space between the centuries). Please note that currently all ranges including this century (or these centuries) are found, and as a result imprecisely dated texts will be included.
Date between:	and strict
	Constrain your search chronologically by defining a range, e.g. between -30 and 25. For BC dates use negative numbers. To look for exact dates fill out the same number twice. The standard 'strict' search only includes records whose ranges entirely fall within the search range. When 'strict' is unchecked, the computer will also include records for which only one of the terms of the record's range falls in the search range, provided the range of the record is not broader than that of the search range. Thus records with a range -50 to -20 will be included amongst the results of the example search, but not those with a range -332 to -30. For 'dates after', fill out the left only, for 'dates before', fill out the left field only. For our dating conventions, see here.
Admin. situation:
	E.g. Thebais, meris of Herakleides, Britannia, Thracia.
Status:
	E.g. polis, civitas, kome, epoikion, chorion, fons. With assisting popup window. For a survey of all terms used, click here.
Details:
	Searching for key-words with relation to the toponym. E.g. thesauros, praefectus Aegypti, Perses of the epigone.
TM-number:
	Searching for toponyms within one specific text using the TM number identifying the text. To find the correct TM number, search here. To search for toponyms within a specific author and work, please search for the work in question using TM Authors database here. From there you will be able to access a list of all the toponyms mentioned.
